STREET SWEEPER FILTER

• Waterless street sweeper filter developed for an ISO 9000 company per government specifications
   including air permeability
• Customer provided an initial drawing, many changes were made because the drawing was not
complete, had conflicting specifications, and did not make sense for a sewn product
• Customer asked for help with drawing revisions - gave suggestions for creating technical packages
and introduced stitch and seam types, a materials list layout, and detail call-outs
• Drafted a single, continuous piece of material to eliminate unnecessary seams
• Added pen lines and drill holes to aid operators in sewing process and keep labor times down
• Project had tight tolerances, customer provided a fitting frame
• Trained operators and cutters to be very careful of material elongation and shrinkage and how to
   prevent it
• Extensive material sourcing process, learned a lot about the nonwoven textile industry
• Chose materials for this project and others based on weight, thickness, coatings, construction, and
   performance factors
• Cuff pattern created to have a close fit and neat appearance while maintaining durability and allowing
   for easy assembly
• Grommets added to the cuff so the draw cord could slide easily and reduce seam stress
• Prototype went through rigorous quality testing by customer and passed
